The workshop explored the role of social norms in shaping how women’s work is recognised, reported and measured. Discussions covered the evolution of measuring women’s work through government surveys, differences between the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) and Time-Use Surveys (TUS), and the resulting policy implications.

The workshop also examined how social norms influence the reporting and valuation of women’s work, reinforce the gendered division of labour, and shape the distribution and experience of work across intersecting identities.
