Mrs. Bijita Devsharma , Research Consultant

Bijita Devsharma is a Hyderabad-based development practitioner with over 13 years of experience in the fields of research, program design & implementation as well as monitoring & evaluation. Her key thematic areas of interest and expertise are Child Rights & Child Protection, Education as well as Gender as a cross-cutting theme across issues. A Sociologist by training with an M.A & M.Phil in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics, Bijita has worked with a wide range of NGOs such as Oxfam, Save the Children, Room to Read, Aga Khan Foundation & UNICEF to name a few.

Bijita was a Senior Consultant at the Child Rights Resource Unit set up in collaboration with UNICEF India at the National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD) Hyderabad till Feb 2021. Bijita was instrumental in developing a Child Rights Training Manual that is being used as a training resource by development orgs and govt. officials to raise awareness of children’s rights. She also documented good practices from across India on ‘Child Friendly Local Governance’ through direct interviews with a range of stakeholders. Both the manual and the learning document are now published and available for wider dissemination.

Bijita is currently engaged as a Research Consultant with the Institute of Social Studies Trust and is based out of Hyderabad. She is helping design and coordinate the next edition of the online course on Facilitating Gender Transformative Evaluation (FGTE 2.0).

In her free time, Bijita enjoys dabbling with watercolor artwork and baking cakes with her children!
