Ms. Mahima Taneja , Research Associate

Mahima Taneja holds an M.A and M.Phil from Centre for Political Studies, JNU, New Delhi and is a recipient of UGC Reserach Fellowship. Her M.Phil Dissertation titled, 'Rethinking Right to the City : Politics of Gender and Sexuality mapped contemporary campaigns and movements erupting in Indian cities. She has presented her research at verious national and International conferences and workshops. Her forthcoming publications include 'Politicizing Right to City and Gendered Corporeality : Some Case Studies from Delhi in a book by DALVAA and Presses Universitaires de Nanterre and 'Beyond Safety : Understanding Open Defecation Programming through a Feminist Evaluation Approach under an ISST-Ford Foundation Grant.

Prior to joining ISST, Mahima worked at Outline India for two years where she undertook multiple evaluation projects in the field of water and sanitation, sexual and reproductive health, and education, across geographies such as Bihar, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, UP and Delhi. Prior to that, she worked as a research assistant at JNU for a project on politics of new social media and at Praxis : Institute for Participatory Research for a project on urban infrastructure equity.

Mahima is interested in politics of urban development and right to city, and in understanding social and public policy from a gendered lens.
